Aren't they cool? I tried to take some "photogenic" shots of them.

Reading
It's been FOREVER since I've done a photo-manipulation. I'm talking about two to three years...but I had an idea when I saw this picture that I snapped with my self-timer:
I changed it into this. What do you think? I know I'm a little rusty, but I'm proud I can still do it.

My room
I've finally gotten around to situating my room the way I want it.
There is only one thing I loathe about my new place...
and that is the walls.
Yes, the walls.
Whoever lived here before me thought mustard yellow, orange, and dark burnt siena would look GREAT randomly painted on all the different walls/ alcoves/ window frame thingies. Its literally the worst paint job I've ever seen.
But wait, it gets worse! Because THEN the person thought...why not take all these colors and paint some weird geometric designs on the mustard walls? So they decided to do just that.
Then they painted the closet blue.
???????????
The result is something just plain weird, that slightly resembles chunky barf...with a sky blue closet.
I tried to cover up the geometric stuff with posters, but alas, my posters are too small...
Anyway, the good thing is my landlord gave me permission to paint over it if I want! (she is probably just glad she doesn't have to)
The bad thing is I don't have any money...but when I get some. I'm thinking whatever I come up with will be a definite improvement.
I do like how I've organized it, through. =) The room is SO large. I have space for a desk, a sewing area, and plenty of room to spread out and cut fabric on the floor.
Anyone have any color ideas for big rooms that do NOT contain orange?

Rose Dress
I made this dress out of two old sheets. The same sheets that I used to make this other dress last week. Both of these dresses have cost me about 2$ so far.
What I like most is this design is how it fits to my waist. I think it looks great on! What do you think?
Here is the back:
I've also started a job--only 20 hours a week, but it least I have something. Also, it does not involve food. God be praised! =)

My Dream
oh, for the life of a tree, i wish--
to stand tall and watch time float by
high in my stately branches, green with ivy
the blue moon through dark night sky would fly
glancing whispers of beams through the silty darkness
ever old i would be revered
my sturdy frame an icon of steadfast strength
withered bark in autumn so strong--
and weird fiends my fast embrace would keep
stretched forever far in otherwhere
as tree, immortal my seeds would sew
a forest-grove around me
steadfast within my leafy grove
i'd slumber
peace forever behind, and lingering still beyond
Poem and picture by me. This is actually the only poem I've ever gotten published in my literary school magazine.
I'm working on two projects right now: a modern dress with floral fabric, and a cute tote! I'll post pictures soon.

Dress
So, I made this dress a few days ago. It turned out looking a lot more old fashioned then I imagined...
But, it is my own design AND it is wearable so I am proud!

Ending of an Era
So, I've moved. I no longer live in Blacksburg, VA next to the venerable Virginia Polytechnic Institute. I won't say where my new location is, but I really like my new house. Yes, it's a house! Glee!
And guess what! I've acquired a job that does NOT involve food. YAY!
I'd thought I would share with you all some pictures of my last two years at Virginia Tech. Please be aware that these were all taken on my phone!
Me, before moving to Tec in 2009
My job in Blacksburg involved making cheeseburgers to very drunk VT students from 6pm to 3am in the morning. Okay not all were drunk...but most were. Since it was a college town, and I worked on campus, as you can imagine, shenanigans occurred...
I enjoyed some of the crazy stuff...but I'm glad to be done with food service! Here is what my uniform looked like:
And here is the spooky door we all walked through each night to clock out.
I'll miss the people at my job, but the work itself? NO thanks =) I'm moving on! Maybe not up, but on. No more food. New apartment! New place. More sewing!
