But, before I quit my job and try to live solely off my Etsy income, I wanted to make a detailed plan. I expect it to take 5-6 months to get everything up and running! My tentative "quit" date is June 1, 2013.
The Quit List
- Organize my shops: make one for vintage items and one for handmade, instead of having everything all together.
- Save 200$ for marketing for when I first launch.
- Have 100 items in each shop before the quit date
- Blog every day here on Kitty Adventures
- Make sure I am making at least $100 a month. (Right now I average between $75-120 from etsy sales)
- Have a detailed 5-year plan
- Organize a sewing area.
- Purchases a business license
- Have 200$ in the bank for miscellaneous unknown fees that may arise.

That is so, so exciting, girl! I love the idea of being self-employed! Of course, I'm not employed at all at the moment, but I'm working towards having a job in a salon, but I'm pretty sure that I'll never be the kind of person who is really excited to go and work in a salon everyday. My dream is to write full-time. All the best to you in your journey towards self-employment! I'll be here along the way to keep reading about it!
Congrats dear! This is exciting and Im excited for you to step out and do it! Funny thing, I am turning in my resignation tomorrow. I am in the same boat - I want to work for myself and enjoy what I do! Best of luck!!

I'm seriously considering what to do with my situation. I don't like the feeling of finding another job that while may be better in terms of location, would be something I'd become equally miserable in.
I should come up with a plan myself but I don't know where to start. How'd you come up with your plan? :O
